I provide forensically informed treatment for children and families with a variety of adjustment, developmental, and psychological disorders both in the role of clinician in a private capacity as well as in the role of court-ordered Therapeutic Interventionist (TI). I also conduct psychological evaluations for the Department of Child Safety and the Department of Economic Security.

Description of Site: An inpatient, lock-down facility with 16 beds serving people 

who are dangerous to themselves and/or others. Medication stabilization and 

support therapy are provided with an expected stay of 3 to 5 days. Most of the

patients are of SMI (Seriously Mentally Ill) status.


Responsibilities: I do the intakes and provide individual therapy and group

therapy, daily.


Practicum Trainee | Aug 2015-Aug 2016

Sentience Psychological Services - Phoenix, AZ

Supervisor: Janeen DeMarte, PhD


Description of Site: An outpatient private practice providing counseling and psychological testing to adults. Psychological testing includes personality assessment (MMPI, MCMI), intelligence testing (WAIS-IV), psychodiagnostic testing (PICTS, BSL-23), and neuropsychological testing (DKEFS). I wrote reports along with treatment plans and progress notes. I participated in both individual and group supervision on a weekly basis.


Responsibilities: Provided individual therapy for clients with depression, anxiety 

disorders, grief and loss, Borderline Personality Disorder, psychotic disorders, 

and PTSD. Conducted a variety of psychological evaluations including personality assessment, intelligence testing, psychodiagnostic testing, and neuropsychological 

testing.

Buwalda Psychological Services - Tempe, AZ

Description of Site: An outpatient forensic private practice providing counseling (court-ordered and otherwise) to adults, adolescents, and children. In addition, the site provides psychosexual evaluations for both adults and adolescents in both outpatient and detention center settings.


Responsibilities: Provided therapy services for children and adults in high conflict families. Also provided co-parenting services for court-ordered parents. Conducted psychosexual evaluations both in detention centers and in an outpatient capacity. Psychosexual evaluations included personality testing, intelligence testing, and measures to gauge an individual’s risk to reoffend in the context of a sexual crime.

Description of Site: Rosewood Centers for Eating Disorders provides 

comprehensive care for those struggling with anorexia, bulimia, binge-eating 

disorder, and co-occurring disorders including mood disorders, Post-Traumatic 

Stress Disorder, and personality disorders.


Responsibilities: Worked with clients individually using Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and created customized treatment plans. Facilitated counseling groups including DBT, body image, and relapse prevention. Completed all clinical documentation per agency standards. Trained new interns on Rosewood paperwork and processes.  


RESEARCH

The Role of Childhood Abuse in the Development of Vomiting Behaviors Versus Purging Behaviors

Description: Used archival data from Rosewood Centers for Eating Disorders to 

examine the role of childhood abuse history in the development of vomiting
